Zen Doodle and

Scripture Experience

On July 4th, Canada Pure Land Learning Association (Edmonton)hosted the Zen Doodle & Scripture Copying Experience, bringing together mindful creativity and traditional Buddhist practice in a peaceful and welcoming environment. Led by instructor Ding Yalong, participants explored the calming art of Zen doodling before taking part in scripture copying, a contemplative practice that encourages focus, patience, and reflection on the teachings of the Dharma. 

Singing Bowl and Scripture Experience

On July 3rd, Canada Pure Land Learning Association (Edmonton) hosted the Singing Bowl & Scripture Experience, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore Buddhist wisdom through scripture and mindful sound meditation. Led by instructor Zhou Shuhui, the session featured guided scripture reading and reflection followed by the soothing resonance of the singing bowl, creating a peaceful space for relaxation, mindfulness, and self-discovery. 

Tai Chi and Singing Bowl Retreat

On June 24th, the Canada Pure Land Learning Association (Edmonton) hosted a rejuvenating morning session featuring Tai Chi led by Instructor Zhan Desheng and Singing Bowl therapy led by Instructor Zhou Shuhui. Participants experienced physical, mental, and spiritual peace and joy through gentle movement and resonant sound healing at the CPLLA center in Edmonton. Edmonton Elite Life Growth Camp

 

On June 13th Canada Pure Land Learning Association (Edmonton) hosted at the Edmonton Public Library a growth camp and brought together over 20 participants for a truly transformative retreat. Centered around inspiring lectures and heartfelt life story sharing sessions, the event guided attendees through principles of mindfulness, compassion, and self-discovery. Through meaningful discussions and powerful personal narratives of struggle and breakthrough, everyone left feeling deeply enriched and connected.

Community Holiday Celebration

 

More than 100 community members came together on December 27 at Canada Pure Land Learning Association (Edmonton) to celebrate the holiday season and welcome the New Year. Hosted by CPLLA Edmonton and co-organized with community partners, the gathering offered a shared meal, cultural performances, and New Year blessings, creating meaningful opportunities for social connection and helping to reduce loneliness during the holiday season.                          Read more

Mid-Autumn Dharma Assembly

 

On October 5, Canada Pure Land Learning Association (Edmonton) held a peaceful Mid-Autumn Dharma Assembly, offering prayers and blessings for harmony, health, and wisdom. Participants joined in chanting, sharing moon-festival traditions, and expressing gratitude for family unity and peace.

Ullambana Ceremony

The Ullambana Ceremony is a Buddhist ritual of gratitude and compassion, inspired by Maudgalyayana’s act to save his mother. Through chanting and offering, participants pray for peace for both the living and the departed, honoring love, kindness, and filial piety.

Veggie Festival

 

On August 30, Canada Pure Land Learning Association (Edmonton) Veggie Fest promoted healthy, eco-friendly living with plant-based food, nutrition tips, and cultural sharing. Visitors enjoyed delicious vegetarian dishes and learned about mindful eating and sustainable lifestyles.

Tai Chi Cultural Exchange

 

On August 28, Canada Pure Land Learning Association (Edmonton) welcomed community members for a Tai Chi exchange session. Instructors demonstrated techniques and shared the health benefits of mindful movement. Participants practiced together and experienced relaxation, balance, and cultural appreciation.

Multicultural Festival

 

Canada Pure Land Learning Association (Edmonton) joined Edmonton Heritage Festival with performances, food, and cultural displays from diverse communities. The event promoted friendship, inclusion, and respect through authentic traditions and joyful cultural exchange.

Dragon Boat Festival

 

On June 1, the Canada Pure Land Learning Association (Edmonton) Dragon Boat Festival celebration included storytelling, traditional crafts, and cultural sharing. Guests enjoyed learning the history of the holiday, making rice dumplings, and honoring the spirit of community and remembrance.

Bathing the Buddha Ceremony

 

Canada Pure Land Learning Association (Edmonton) conducted the Bathing the Buddha Ceremony to commemorate the birth of the Buddha. Participants offered flowers, recited prayers, and symbolically bathed the Buddha statue, expressing wishes for purity of mind, compassion, and wisdom.

New Year Event

 

To celebrate the arrival of the New Year, Canada Pure Land Learning Association (Edmonton) warmly invited everyone to join the New Year Party. The event included sutra chanting, offering lights, prayers for peace, and a joyful vegetarian lunch.
